Install ProXPN with network-manager in linux

Following steps have been verified on Ubuntu 15.10

  1. Open terminal and run
    sudo apt-get install network-manager-openvpn
  2. On Network Connections, click Edit Connections
  3. Click Add button

  4. Select OpenVPN from Connection Type list

    Then click Create... button: 

  5. On Editing VPN Connection, fill in your username and password, and proXPN servers as following

  6. Click Advanced... button, then under General tab, check following check boxes

  7. click Security tab, select BF-CBC with keysize 512

Our certificates and key are available at here ca.crt, client.crt, client.key. Right click and select Save As

If you experience the problem with the systray popup, try to install the libpng12, Gtk2::AppIndicator, libappindicator-dev packages with following command:

sudo apt install libappindicator-dev

followed by

sudo cpan -i Gtk2::AppIndicator

In Ubuntu Versions prior to 18.04 you can download the libpng12 package as follows:

sudo apt install libpng12

Ubuntu 18.04 does not contain the libpng12 package, so you can download it from here.
and then type in the command line

sudo dpkg -i libpng12-0.deb

followed by

apt-get install -f
